IV Sedation

Your Trusted Center For Sedation Dentistry In Tampa Bay

The DWIC Team understands that going to the dentist can at times be stressful and for some a terrifying experience. With over 20 years of experience managing patient comfort and limiting stress during dental procedures, Dr. Mark Holmes, Dr. Christine Van Groesbeck, Dr. Adiba Khan, and the DWIC team have developed practice protocols to assure our patients are comfortable and safe during dental procedures. Dr. Holmes is a respected lecturer on the topic of Stress Management and Sedation Dentistry, having lectured to dental societies, dental academics and student dentists at the University of Florida.

Our entire team is here to answer any of your questions regarding sedation dentistry. Our IV Sedation team has many years of experience in different sedation techniques and receives continuous training in safely delivering a comfortable stress-free experience to our patients. The team recently returned from annual advanced anesthesia training in Los Angeles, CA.

Depending on your individual anxiety, two sedation options that we offer are:

  • 1

Nitrous Oxide Sedation is a great option for patients that have mild anxiety. Nitrous Oxide also decreases discomfort that can be experienced during a dental procedure. Treatment can usually be performed on the same day with Nitrous Oxide Sedation. With Nitrous Oxide Sedation, you can drive yourself to your appointment, have a relaxing and comfortable experience, and then drive yourself home.

  • 2

Intravenous (IV) Conscious Sedation is an option for patients that have moderate or severe anxiety associated with dental visits. During IV sedation the patient is conscious and breathing on their own which makes it a safe level of anesthesia. The doctor will evaluate and ensure you are a candidate for IV conscious sedation. The IV sedation team will prepare you for your appointment with all the necessary information. During your procedure be prepared to relax and the daydreaming is up to you!
